End-grain cutting boards can truly enhance a culinary space in several ways. Firstly, the beautiful patterns and natural colors of the wood create an eye-catching appearance that can elevate the look and feel of any kitchen. Secondly, the functionality of end-grain cutting boards is unparalleled. The unique properties of the end-grain helps preserve the sharpness of your knives by allowing them to sink into the wood fibers instead of dulling them on the harder surfaces of face-grain or edge-grain boards.

The grain patterns that emerge when end grain is book-matched make each board wholly unique, even if two boards are from the same piece of wood they will have different patterns from each other. The board you purchase will be the only one with that pattern.

Each board ships with a tin of my custom blend of board butter. It is a mixture of 3 parts mineral oil and 1 part beeswax, all food-safe quality. Prior to shipping each board gets several coats of mineral oil, then a coat of board butter, so when it gets to your home it is ready to use.

Give your board the proper love and care to make it last years.

-Apply the board butter with a clean lint-free cloth using a circular motion to push the board butter into the wood. Let the board sit for an hour then buff away the excess board butter. If the board ever starts to look dull or faded it is time to add more board butter, letting the board stay in this state will certainly lead to warping and cracking.

-Hand wash both sides of the board with warm soapy water, washing only one side can lead to warping or cracking.

-Dry with a clean cloth and leave the board on edge for a couple of hours before storing.

-Never put the board in the dishwasher, this will certainly lead to cracking and warping of the board.

-Never submerge the board in water, this will certainly lead to cracking and warping of the board

My name is Travis Zielinski and I am the owner and operator of WOODSKI. This whole thing came to be by making my wife a jewelry box for our fifth wedding anniversary. From there I tried several other projects, but fell in love with the cutting boards, especially the end grain variety. The time and attention to detail in making each board gave me a sense of pride by taking rough-cut lumber and producing a functional yet elegant item.

I have worn many hats in my life from greens keeper, to gondola operator, aircraft mechanic in the US Army, and photographer/post-production artist in Denver, NYC, Portland. My current occupation is working on aircraft for a leading aerospace company.

In recent years the idea of turning a hobby into a legitimate side business has increasingly occupied space in my mind, This is the realization of my goal and I thank you for stopping by and seeing what I create.
